We have a tooth!

So that's probably the most exciting news from this past weekend-we discovered that Ethan is getting his first tooth on Sunday. He's been doing really well though and hasn't been too cranky about it-hopefully that lasts!

We tried to take it a bit easy this past weekend since we had a couple of really busy weekends in a row and are packing up and heading to Nebraska this weekend-even thought I'm still not quite sure which direction it is in.

I also almost forgot to mention that Ethan now sleeps on his stomach, which totally scares the bejezeezes out of me-poor Justin, i make him check to make sure Ethan's breathing about twice a night right now-yes you can tell i'm a first time mom :)
We did get a lot accomplished though: we saw family, bought Ethan some much needed new clothes, a car seat, went on a hike to Seven Bridges in South Milwaukee and I'm sure there's much more that I'm forgetting-but here are some pics from the weekends' events.

Tons of Fun

here's a short recap of the weekend...

Saturday we headed out to the farmers market to pick up some last minute items for our shindig, finished cleaning and stopped by my work picnic for a little bit-Ethan got his first tattoo! a little turtle on his leg-unfortunately I forgot to snap a quick pic of that. We then raced home from there to get home about 15 minutes before our own Summer BBQ/housewarming/graduation party started(so typical of us and of course we didn't have the tables or chairs set up yet either). I was worried about not having enough room for everyone but it worked out great and the cooler weather that day helped too-Ethan enjoyed the party but didn't want to really eat or nap because he was afraid he'd miss out-no crabbiness though which was great.

On Sunday we headed over to the Zoo to meet up with Nick, Janet, Wilson, Graham and Louise. Tons of food and animals later we were ready to head home. Tons of fun though-it was our first year and we'll definately be going back. Also great weather.
Love that you can bring your own beer to the zoo!

We're planning on this weekend being a bit more low key, we'll see how that goes, we're still toying with the idea of heading up to Door County for a day. Never a dull moment-at least not until winter!

Not a fan of peas at all, but the homegrown squash was a hit yesterday!
mommy and me yoga class-kicked my butt!

State Fair induced thought

So we went to the State Fair last night and had a great time-we were only able to stay for a couple hours because we went after work and had some delays and then wanted to get Ethan home before it got too late. But while we were there I saw something that keeps sticking in my head. There was this company Hooked Productions that had bamboo and organic cotton t shirts and sweatshirts-so of course Justin and I were immediately drawn to it, but a lot of the shirts had the same saying "live the life you love-love the life you live". It's making me think-am I really living the life I love?
I mean I obviously love so much about my life-my family-immediate and extended, our house, our neighborhood etc, but there are some things that aren't quite what we wanted to be doing or where we wanted to be at this point. So I ask myself- Is it better to live by the phrase-you're only young once and live the life you love and take a chance on doing something/working somewhere that could potentially make you happier and more fulfilled, but also has the big risk associated with it? Hmmmm.....deep thoughts for an early Friday morning-thought I'd share!

5 Months

Wow I can't believe it's been 5 months already!
Ethan is continuously learning new things and amazing us every day. He is now rolling over and loves to scoot across the floor on his back and definitely has us all wrapped around his little finger. These past few weeks along with the few weeks coming up have/are going to be a whirlwind. There is so much going on...it seems like everything happens at the end of summer. We're gearing up for State Fair and Justin's dad's 60th birthday party this weekend and then Our BBQ and A'la Carte at the zoo next weekend.

Ikea and Chill on the Hill

This past weekend we decided to make the trip down to IKEA for some much needed storage. We decided not to take Ethan along since we knew we'd be there a long time and space int he car would be greatly needed. So we started off the morning walking over to the South Shore Farmers Market with my parents which was a lot of fun-we hadn't gotten the chance to get down there yet this year and I would highly recommend it to anyone who can get over there. From there we packed up Ethan and all of his stuff for his FIRST OVERNIGHT TRIP. Once we settled him in at my parents we headed off to Ikea to what turned out to be a very long 5 hour shopping experience(not including travel time), I was a little disappointed by what they had to offer this time, but still managed to fill the car completely. Justin and I both mentioned how strange it was not to have Ethan with us. We went to pick up Ethan the late the next morning and he was having a great time with Grandma and Grandpa-everything went really well, but we were glad to have him back. Here's one of the things we picked up for him-now he has a matching chair to the one we have in his room.

Last night we had the chance to take a walk down to Chill on the Hill with some friends, it was a little cool for August, but ended up being pretty fun-Ethan stayed up past his bedtime, but didn't get crabby which was great. The music wasn't the greatest this time-it was a mix between reggae and kids music, but not in a good way. Oh well it was nice to be outside and with friends.
